Rahm & Hatton Comeback: DP World Tour Accepts Conflict!

The DP World Tour faces a tough decision, and PGA Tour professional Michael Kim has brutally spoken the truth: The return of superstars like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton may boost revenues and increase tournament appeal, but it could hit the Tour's own players hard. Kim makes no secret that this assessment is his personal interpretation, but it lands like a precise chip shot onto the green.

For Kim, it's crystal clear: When Rahm and Hatton are back in the field, everyone benefits – especially the Tour. Because at the end of the day, the hype around a major champion matters more to organizers than the frustration of a player struggling around 100th place. The attention these caliber players generate is simply priceless.

Conflict on the Green

The plan to bring back former LIV players in 2027 is already a powder keg. Guy Kinnings, the head of the DP World Tour, made it clear: No VIP ticket for the LIV 2.0 guys. Those without status must either go through Q-School or hope for sponsor exemptions, with rumors speaking of "double figures" in potential invitations. This naturally causes frustration among young players who are painstakingly fighting their way up.

Golf icons like Joost Luiten, Eddie Pepperell, and Brandel Chamblee see a danger in this: If too many sponsor exemptions are handed out, it's a slap in the face for emerging talents who are just trying to establish themselves on Tour. Pepperell clearly demands that established ex-LIV players – apart from Rahm and Hatton – must go through Q-School normally.

Rahm's Return and the LIV Chaos

Jon Rahm himself is expected to make his comeback on the DP World Tour at the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship in November 2026. The tournament at Yas Links, from November 5th to 8th, marks the start of the 2026 playoffs. The anticipation is naturally at its peak! Tyrrell Hatton's next move is also being closely watched.

This back-and-forth is happening precisely at a time when LIV Golf itself is at a crossroads. Allegedly, Saudi funding was cut in April, and only four players – Richard Bland, Ben Campbell, Brendan Steele, and Cameron Tringale – have committed to the alleged LIV 2.0 by October 25th. For the DP World Tour, this is a real dilemma: well-known names boost tournaments, but angered homegrown players? That's a price that could hurt.
