Tyrrell Hatton: LIV Deal & U-Turn from Court Documents

Hatton's LIV Reversal: Court Documents Reveal Mega Deal!

Court documents unequivocally show: Tyrrell Hatton had committed to joining LIV Golf before executing a spectacular U-turn. The deal, in January 2024, was reportedly worth a hefty $50 million and would have placed him directly into Jon Rahm's Legion XIII team. It's now confirmed: the pact was sealed, the ink practically dry.

But then everything changed. Hatton is now among the pros who are giving the planned LIV 2.0 model for 2027 the cold shoulder. Rahm started it, and Hatton followed, stating clearly that he didn't want to be part of the revamped league. A decision that finally destabilizes the entire circus.

LIV in Trouble: Billions Burned, Bankruptcy on the Horizon

The background is grim: The Saudi Public Investment Fund pulled the plug in April 2026, after reportedly sinking over $5 billion. LIV subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US. Currently, BC Partners Credit is reportedly preparing a $300 million initial package – but only if LIV manages to keep enough players on the greens to remain credible.

The Exodus Continues: What Awaits the Defectors?

The list of defectors is growing longer and longer. Besides Rahm and Hatton, names like Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Ian Poulter, Branden Grace, Lucas Herbert, and Tom McKibbin are also on the exit list for 2027. A bankruptcy court has already approved the rejection of 19 player contracts, including Bryson DeChambeau's. For Hatton, the most likely path leads back to the DP World Tour, but the question of eligibility for ex-LIV players there is far from resolved. This is golf drama at its finest!
