Yani Tseng is back on the green where she wrote her fairytale last year, defending her title at the Wistron Ladies Open in front of her home crowd. The tournament at Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taoyuan features a substantial $1.2 million prize purse, and for the former world No. 1, it's about more than just a check. After an incredible drought of 4,306 days, she secured an emotional home victory in 2025 – now the pressure of being the 'Defending Champion' rests on her shoulders.
Home Game with Added Pressure
Her form is good. The 37-year-old recently showed at the Aramco Korea Championship that she is still very strong, securing a tie for third place there. This makes her the absolute local favorite, and the eyes of fans in Taoyuan will be fixed on her every shot.
Top-Tier Field
This week, the course at Sunrise Golf and Country Club is hosting the LET–Taiwan LPGA Co-sanctioned Event, where 108 female golfers will compete for the crown. The competition is fierce: In addition to Tseng, players like India's Pranavi Urs, who recently shone with top results at the Women's Indian Open, and the newly crowned winner of the same tournament, Pornanong Phatlum, are also in the field.
Also, six players from the top 10 of the LET Order of Merit are registered, promising plenty of drama and excitement. The online broadcast runs from Thursday to Saturday, 5 AM to 8 AM local time (Thursday to Saturday, 10 PM the previous day to 1 AM CET). The final round on Sunday can be watched from 4 AM to 7 AM local time (Saturday 9 PM to Sunday midnight CET). Yani Tseng has the chance to write golf history once again in front of her home country. We're excited for every shot!
