Westwood Blasts: 'Blind or Stupid!' in LIV Dispute

Anyone who sees the PGA Tour as a partner and not a rival is blind or a fool – with this statement from Lee Westwood, the debate about the return of LIV players to the DP World Tour has finally escalated. The veteran is firing on all cylinders, making it clear that he and his LIV colleagues belong back on the Tour. A statement that is causing considerable tension among the players who have remained loyal to the DP World Tour.

Westwood leaves no doubt: players with existing playing rights should easily be allowed back. Those without must go through Qualifying School and re-earn their status. For the DP World Tour, this is a real dilemma: balancing the allure of big names with protecting the players who participated even in smaller events. The financial support from the PGA Tour could still come at a high price by 2027, according to Westwood.

Westwood Speaks Out

Westwood provides a perfect setup for further discussions. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking for LIV 2.0: the deadline for commitments is October 25th. The DP World Tour is drawing a clear line: whoever signs with the next LIV iteration will lose their membership for 2027. This means anyone who now opts for LIV 2.0 can pack their bags for the DP World Tour.

LIV 2.0 – The Great Shake-up

Several big names have already declined: Ian Poulter is leaving LIV to focus on senior golf. Tyrrell Hatton has also departed. Louis Oosthuizen, Jon Rahm, and Sergio Garcia reportedly have no interest in the new LIV iteration either. Bryson DeChambeau is still in, but he seems to be looking for ways to further promote LIV. This back and forth shows: the golf world is in flux, and nobody quite knows where it's headed.
