CME Globe Fight Club: Roussin-Bouchard Rocks, Hull Joins the Fray!
Pauline Roussin-Bouchard delivered a stellar round to take the lead at the Maybank Championship, as, in the shadow of her triumph, the relentless battle for coveted CME Globe spots truly heats up. Not only does the Frenchwoman have the final round in her sights, but a resurgent Charley Hull is also right in contention.
Roussin-Bouchard conjured a bogey-free 8-under 64 on the course, finishing her round with three consecutive birdies – a true statement finish! Currently ranked 79th in the CME Globe Ranking, she's eager to break into the top 60 for the CME Group Tour Championship and secure her LPGA card for 2027. The stakes are incredibly high.
CME Globe Showdown
Lurking right behind her is Sophia Schubert, who also played a flawless 65. Schubert, currently 71st in the CME standings, is determined to make it to the season finale for the first time since 2022. Alongside her: Miyu Yamashita, the world No. 4 and defending champion, who also carded a 65, showing why she excelled here last year.
Hull's Resilient Comeback
British golf icon Charley Hull returns with a 6-under 66 after a self-imposed break since the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in September. She had originally planned a longer break but couldn't resist the allure of the greens. Seven birdies with just one bogey – now that's an impressive start! Four shots behind the leader, she is lurking in contention, proving she's always a force to be reckoned with. Julia López Ramírez started very well with a 67, and last week's BMW Ladies Championship winner, Yuri Yoshida, also had a solid start with a 69. The tension is almost unbearable until Sunday, November 1st, at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
