The path to glory at the 2027 European Junior Ryder Cup is officially clear: The qualification system for the junior spectacle in Ireland is ready to launch, promising an exciting hunt for the coveted team spots. Who doesn't dream of performing on the course for Europe and keeping the US competition at bay? Now we know how this dream can become a reality.
The event itself will take place from September 14 to 16, 2027, in Ireland. The first two days of action will be held at Ballyneety Golf Club, before the decisive singles matches are played at the legendary Adare Manor – directly preceding the main Ryder Cup for professionals. Europe will field six boys and six girls to reclaim the trophy from the Americans.
The Golden Path to Team Europe
Qualification operates on two tracks: The top three boys and top three girls in separate, season-long European rankings will automatically secure their spot on the squad. For the remaining six places – three boys and three girls – Captain Stephen Gallacher will make his personal Captain's Picks. This means not only consistent performance, but also the ability to impress the Captain, is highly crucial.
Point Hunt: How to Score on the Course
Junior talents will earn points at up to ten elite amateur tournaments throughout 2027. In the end, the five highest scores will count towards the final ranking. The point hunt begins already in January with the Portuguese Amateur and Portuguese Ladies’ Amateur Championships and concludes on August 14, 2027, with The R&A Boys’ and Girls’ Amateur Championships. A true marathon race that will challenge the best talents.
To be eligible, players must be born after January 1, 2009, hold citizenship of a European country by January 1, 2027, and must not represent a non-European country in 2027. Also important: anyone enrolled in or committed to a US college in 2027 cannot participate. This system of performance record and Captain's selection ensures maximum excitement and offers young golfers a unique opportunity to prove themselves on the biggest junior stage.
