The drama series between Jon Rahm and the DP World Tour enters its next chapter, folks! Golf giant Rahm withdrew his appeal against the hefty DPWT fines on March 20, 2026. But anyone who thinks this means peace in the golf circus is sorely mistaken. Because pay? The Spaniard apparently has no intention of doing so.
It's about over 3 million dollars in fines that Rahm incurred due to his appearances at the unauthorized LIV Golf events. And although he has now dropped his appeal – reportedly out of frustration over the endless delays – he flatly refuses to pay up or sign a conditional release that would commit him to further starts on the DP World Tour. Thus, his spot in the 2027 Ryder Cup continues to hang in the balance.
Rahm Against the World?
The DP World Tour had offered eight LIV players, including big names like Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Meronk, to be fully reinstated. The conditions? Pay fines and commit to 6-8 additional events – in addition to the four already standard for membership. But Rahm remains steadfast: Four events, that's his thing, but more? Not with him! "I'll sign tonight," he reportedly said, if it were only about the four standard tournaments.
Ryder Cup in Jeopardy?
This back and forth has now been going on for 18 months, and the tension remains palpable. While eight of his colleagues already agreed in February to be able to play DPWT events again and qualify for the Ryder Cup, Rahm is holding his ground. He and another, as yet unnamed, LIV veteran have rejected the offers. Thus, the Ryder Cup remains a big question mark for Rahm. The sides are entrenched, and a solution is still far from sight. We'll keep you updated, golfers!
