The 2029 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine will have a Championship Director who already knows the course inside out: Laura Frick takes on the role, bringing true game-changer experience to the tee. She is the first woman in PGA of America history to take on this key role for a Ryder Cup, which will take place from September 24-30, 2029.
What makes this move so strong? Frick already managed the KPMG Women's PGA Championship 2026 at Hazeltine this June. This isn't theory; it's fresh practice! She knows the processes, logistics, and local partners like the back of her hand, giving her a massive head start for the preparation of this mega-event.
Familiar Turf, New Challenge
Her to-do list is accordingly long and crucial: Frick will be responsible for all on-site operations, strategic planning, community engagement, and coordination with the PGA of America and Hazeltine National Golf Club. David Charles, Senior Director of Championships at the PGA of America, praised not only her experience at Hazeltine but also her event management background and passion for the Ryder Cup as top reasons for this choice.
Experience Takes the Lead
Frick herself has been part of the PGA of America since 2017, having graduated from the Ferris State University PGA Golf Management Program in 2015. Previously, she served as Director of Competitions and oversaw programs like the PGA Jr. League Championships. For Hazeltine, the 2029 Ryder Cup is also historic, as the club will be the first U.S. venue to host the continental showdown twice. Things really heated up here in 2016 when the USA defeated Europe 17-11. With Frick at the helm, the Ryder Cup's return to Hazeltine should run like clockwork.
