DELOFTED Crew, listen up! What a sensational start to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2026 at TPC Louisiana! Michael Brennan and his partner Johnny Keefer didn't just kick off with a seriously strong round; Brennan immediately delivered the first epic viral moment of the year – and he did it shirtless!
The Muddy Swingshot
The story of 24-year-old Brennan is already legendary: On the par-5 18th hole, his approach shot landed in shallow, muddy water. What does a true team player do in this situation? That's right, shirt off, into the muck, and try to retrieve the ball! He knew Keefer still had a birdie putt on the green, so it was all or nothing. The ball briefly came out, but then splashed right back into the cool water. Brennan himself later coolly explained that in regular stroke play, he naturally would have taken a drop, but in the team format? You just have to embrace that risky vibe, it was "fun"! Keefer couldn't help but grin and joked that Brennan (who had never gone viral before) would now surely receive tons of DMs for his "ripped physique". The main thing is the pants stayed clean, folks!
The Results: Sensational Rounds on the Green
But that wasn't all the drama from Thursday. Despite the mud bath, Brennan and Keefer delivered a sensational round, carding an 11-under 61 – with a strong 4-under on the back nine and a scorching 7-under on the front nine. While they were very much in contention, they ultimately had to concede to Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer, who set a new four-ball course record with an incredible 14-under 58, besting them by three strokes.
The action at the Zurich Classic continues this Friday in the Foursomes format. We'll see if we witness more such moments or if the guys will focus purely on golf this time. One thing's for sure: It was certainly exciting out on the green!
