Yin Ruoning secured her second consecutive LPGA title in a true thriller finale in Shanghai, after a showdown that left nerves frayed. With a final round of 68, four-under-par, the local favorite played her way to victory at the energetic Sheshan Golf Club, while the previously leading Choi Hye-jin could only watch in the end.
Yin, just 24 years young and having only competed at the FM Championship in Boston in August 2026, finished the tournament at eleven-under-par – one stroke ahead of South Korea's Choi Hye-jin. Not only that: this is her seventh LPGA title and her second triumph in Shanghai overall – she already claimed her first in 2024. Choi Hye-jin, on the other hand, must be tearing her hair out after leading for three rounds and being on course for her first LPGA title. Her lead, which was very strong for long stretches, melted away like an ice cube in the desert when she carded consecutive bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes. The home crowd erupted as Yin holed four of her five birdies on the back nine and really turned up the heat. The suspense was palpable when she sank a putt with nerves of steel on the 17th, sealing the deal. A short but meaningful fist pump, and it was done. Amy Yang from South Korea finished in third place at eight-under-par, closely followed by Japan's Rio Takeda.
