Tae-hoon Ok: Out! No More Balls After Cliff Drama

Alright, folks, buckle up, because this week on the Korean PGA Tour, there was pure drama that would make even the most seasoned golfers gasp! Our man Tae-hoon Ok, none other than South Korea's reigning Money-List Champion, actually pulled it off: He was disqualified from the Woori Financial Championship, and the reason is as incredible as it is simple – he ran out of golf balls!

Imagine this: You're standing on the tee of the Par-5 seventh hole. Ok takes his shot, the ball sails – and lands directly behind a cliff. Annoying, sure, but it happens. What followed next is the stuff of nightmares. Five more tee shots, one after another, same fate! All the balls tumbled over the same cliff. After his sixth attempt, his bag was empty. He had no more balls to finish the hole, let alone the round.

From Hero to Hard-Luck Golfer

Ok's nerves were probably already frayed that day. Earlier, on the fifth hole, he had recorded a quintuple-bogey (nine strokes!) because his ball maliciously hid under leaves, taking him seven shots just to escape the predicament. He managed a par on the sixth, but then came the cliff. What a day!

What's Up with the Champion?

Yet, Tae-hoon Ok is actually a really strong golfer. He was the reigning champion of the Woori Financial Championship and had finished second just the week before. In 2025, he secured three victories on the Korean Tour, two of them back-to-back in June, earning him the Money-List crown and the MVP title. This 2026 season, he had already competed three times on the DP World Tour, with a T23rd at the Hainan Classic as his best result. It makes you wonder: Did he just have a complete blackout, or was it simply unbelievable bad luck? Whatever it was, this story will be told on the fairways for a long time to come!
