The Indian golf scene is buzzing, and Saptak Talwar is the name currently being hotly tipped for DP World Tour cards, a real statement the subcontinent could finally make on the international stage. The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is increasingly becoming a catapult for the biggest stages, and eyes are firmly fixed on Talwar, who could be the next Indian gem to make the leap across the pond.
Things are going well at the PGTI, which is opening real doors with smart partnerships. PGTI officials openly speak of co-sanctioned events – including standout tournaments in Ahmedabad, Delhi, and of course, the iconic Hero Indian Open – as direct tickets for DP World Tour exemptions. The 2027 calendar already promises thrills: The Hero Indian Open will then return to the legendary DLF Golf & Country Club. A clear signal that Indian golf is being taken increasingly seriously.
More Cash, More Glamour
Another boost comes from a fresh five-year partnership between the DP World PGTI and the Essar Foundation. This not only means more prestige but also more prize money. Just consider the Shri Shashi Ruia Memorial Golf Championship, which entices with a main event prize fund of a hefty ₹2 crore (approximately 220,000 Euros) and an additional ₹50 lakh (approximately 55,000 Euros) for the Pro-Am. Such sums are a real statement and make the tour even more attractive for aspiring talents.
The current qualifying rounds for 2026-27 are in full swing, with the top 48 players after four rounds securing a full DP World PGTI card. Rumors are swirling, and although official confirmation is still pending and some reports have not yet found their way into the public domain, Talwar is considered a hot candidate to seize this opportunity. Should he indeed complete the ascent, it would be a huge boost for Indian golf and an inspiration for an entire generation of young golfers.
