Reed Celebrates! PGA Tour Comeback & LIV Turmoil Ahead of Major!

The golf world is buzzing, folks! After much back and forth, Patrick Reed, former Ryder Cup hero and Masters champion, has officially returned to the PGA Tour. That's an announcement that's got many fans talking – because "Captain America" is back, albeit with a significant restriction.

The news that recently leaked from Drew's Morning Dish is a real bombshell: Reed has turned his back on LIV Golf and is back on the PGA Tour. But those hoping for an immediate full-time return will have to be patient. Until August 25, 2026, Reed is only eligible to play in the majors. This means: We'll see him on the biggest stages, but he'll still have to follow the weekly PGA Tour events from the sidelines.

Reed's Comeback: Majors Only Until August 2026

Reed had joined the then-golf shake-up in 2022 and moved to LIV Golf. His return to the PGA Tour fits the picture of an industry that consistently provides surprises. It's a development that many golfers are closely watching, especially with an eye on other names simmering in the rumor mill. Reed is currently preparing for the PGA Championship, where he aims to silence his critics. Recently, there have been ongoing debates about his putting, especially from distances of 12 to 15 meters (approximately 40 to 50 feet). His performance on the back nine has also been inconsistent lately: he struggled six times, despite securing two wins.

PGA Championship 2026: Aronimink Calls

The stage for his return to the big tour could hardly be more spectacular: The 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club on the outskirts of Philadelphia. This course is no walk in the park, golfers! With a hefty 180 bunkers and the longest par 4 in major history – a 490-yard (448 m) hole – things are going to get serious there. Reed will therefore have to show his best form to succeed on this demanding green.

We are curious to see how Patrick Reed performs and if he can build on past successes in the majors. The eyes of the golf world are on him, and we at DELOFTED will, of course, keep you updated.
