The PGA Tour and the DP World Tour are weaving the global golf network even closer together, extending their groundbreaking alliance with the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia through the end of 2027. This isn't just a minor update; it's a statement: The system is becoming more accessible, talents are getting their deserved opportunities, and the professional golf worlds are merging into a true superhighway for the sport.
At the heart of this partnership are the robust career pathways. Golfers from Australia and Asia now gain direct access to the DP World Tour – including a full tour card for the winner of the Order of Merit and two HotelPlanner Tour cards. On top of that, there are also spots for the Qualifying Schools of the DP World Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. This is the career springboard needed to reach the top.
Building Bridges, Forging Talent
The success of this approach was recently evident at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship: A total of 22 Australians competed. Of these, 19 had already won on the Australasian Circuit, and ten gained entry directly via last season's Order of Merit. This is proof that these pathways work and that talents can assert themselves in the international golf world.
Where Careers Take Off
A highlight on the tournament calendar remains the BMW Australian PGA Championship, which will continue for another three years as a co-sanctioned event by the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and the DP World Tour. The 2026 edition will take place from November 26-29 at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney and is sure to be a spectacle once again. This alliance, which began in 2017 and received its latest upgrade in 2022, ensures that the best players from the region can not only dream but truly make the leap to the global elite.
