Masters Concerns: Big Names on the Bubble!

The hunt for the Green Jacket is in full swing, folks! Only a few weeks left until the 2026 Masters kicks off at Augusta National, and the field is slowly taking shape. Currently, we have about 86-90 players who have secured their spot – but hold on tight, some of the biggest names in the golf world are still sweating over their confirmation.

The 90th Masters, from April 9th to 12th, is known for its legendarily tough qualification criteria. Over 24 paths lead to golf's mecca, including lifetime exemptions for legends and five-year windows for major champions. Anyone who finished in the Top 12 at the Masters 2025 or participated in the Tour Championship has also secured their place. But the final deadline for the Top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking? March 30, 2026 – that's when things will get really dramatic!

Who's In? The Confirmed Contenders

Some guys have long since booked their Augusta trip and can calmly polish their clubs. Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Xander Schauffele are firmly in, thanks to their outstanding performances last year. Ludvig Åberg, Justin Rose, Jason Day, and Max Homa also earned their tickets by finishing in the Top 12 at the Masters 2025. And J.J. Spaun, who won the U.S. Open 2025, is naturally also in the field. Even young amateurs like Mason Howell and Ethan Fang are already looking forward to their debut on the greens.

On the Bubble: Sweating Over Augusta

Now here's the crucial point, golfers: Numerous top players are still in limbo. Tiger Woods, our GOAT, has a lifetime invitation as a former champion, but hasn't played on the PGA Tour since 2024 – will he even return? Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Viktor Hovland, Wyndham Clark, and Matt Fitzpatrick are other big names who are currently hoping for a late qualification or must eye the Top 50 of the World Ranking by March 30. It's particularly tight for guys like Taylor Pendrith, who currently sits in the unenviable 51st spot in the ranking.

But there are also some early lucky winners who secured their spot via the OWGR at the end of 2025: Alex Noren, Michael Kim, Min Woo Lee, Ryan Gerard, and Si Woo Kim are in. Sam Stevens is currently projected at 50th place. The tension is rising immensely, because every putt counts double!
