Hyo Joo Kim Doubles Lead at Fortinet Founders Cup!

Folks, buckle up, because the Hyo Joo Kim show is in full swing at the Fortinet Founders Cup! Just before the decisive Sunday, the South Korean has built an almost unassailable lead, dominating the field at will. With a spectacular round on Saturday, she has put herself in pole position for the title.

Hyo Joo Kim Hits Top Gear

What a performance! Hyo Joo Kim, the 30-year-old world No. 8, sat atop the leaderboard after 54 holes at a dominant 17-under 199. From the start, she made it clear who was in charge: an opening 63 featuring an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole, then extending her lead to four strokes, and now the decisive blow, widening the gap to five shots. Second-place Nelly Korda fired a bogey-free 66 to reach 12-under, but Kim's dominance is simply immense.

Saturday, in particular, saw intense action on the greens. Kim's start sent shivers down her competitors' spines: she played the first six holes in an incredible 6-under par! Birdies on holes 1, 3, and 4, an eagle on the par-5 fifth, and another birdie immediately on the sixth. While there were three bogeys on the back nine, a birdie on the 16th hole secured her impressive lead.

Who Can Still Stop Kim?

Behind Korda, Ruixin Liu from China and Gaby Lopez from Mexico sit tied for third at 11-under – five shots behind Kim. World No. 1 Atthaya Thitikul from Thailand is tied for fifth at 9-under. The chances of victory for the chasing pack are slim, but as everyone knows, anything is possible in golf.

Kim had previously won the Founders Cup in 2015, making her the defending champion. With seven LPGA Tour titles under her belt, she knows how to close out a victory. Today, Sunday, marks the final round – and we are excited to see if Hyo Joo Kim crowns her performance and takes home the win.
