Herbert Surges to 4-Shot Lead at LIV Golf UK 2026

Lucas Herbert takes a four-shot lead into the weekend at LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB 2026, but Bryson DeChambeau is lurking, ready to attack.

Record Chase on the Green

Lucas Herbert is currently unstoppable. The Ripper GC star followed his record-breaking opening round of 61 with a 6-under-66 in the second round of LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB 2026, extending his individual score to 17-under par after 36 holes, securing a four-shot lead. It wasn't quite the flawless golf from Thursday, but Herbert spoke openly about putting things in perspective on a day that, by any other measure, would have looked excellent. 'If you hadn't played yesterday's round, you wouldn't have been so angry or worried,' he remarked. 'When you're seven under through ten holes the day before, and then you have to hole a 10-footer (3 meters) just to stay one under for the first ten holes, it feels like you're playing much worse. I'm just trying to put that in perspective. I still played decently. After the 10th hole, I wasn't leading the tournament anymore, but apart from that, I led it for most of the day.'

Master of Momentum

He regained his momentum on the back nine, rather than losing it, a departure from patterns that had affected him in the past. 'People talk about momentum, I was able to build momentum on the back nine instead of shooting myself in the foot on the front nine every time I made a birdie,' he stated.
