Lucas Herbert appears to be marching unstoppably towards the title at the LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB 2026, but the behemoth Bryson DeChambeau is already chomping at the bit, looking to crash his party in the final stretch. The Ripper GC star posted a 3-under 69 in the third round, extending his lead to an impressive 20 under par after 54 holes.
While this impressive round didn't look quite as effortless as the first two days, Herbert has shown remarkable consistency all week. His three-shot cushion over Crushers GC Captain DeChambeau heading into Sunday's final round speaks volumes about his golf so far. Herbert himself states that he enjoys the feeling of being in the lead and truly thrives under pressure.
DeChambeau and Hatton Hot on His Heels
Nevertheless, the Australian wasn't completely satisfied with his putting speed on Saturday and wants to step it up a notch in the final round. And that's desperately needed, because with DeChambeau and Legion XIII star Tyrrell Hatton, who is in third place and five shots back, two absolute heavyweights are lurking. Furthermore, potential weather disruptions could turn everything upside down.
Herbert knows exactly what he's up against: "You can't play match play against these two guys; they are exceptional golfers." He refers to runs like those of his captain Cam Smith and wants to focus on playing his own game and, above all, being more aggressive with his putts. The tension for Sunday is already palpable – will Herbert withstand the pressure, or will a pursuer claim the victory?
