Westwood on the Charge: Veteran Chases Record Win in Singapore!

Singapore – March 14, 2026 Folks, this is a moment for the history books! Lee Westwood is in the final group for the final round for the first time in his entire LIV Golf career – and he's just 18 holes away from setting a league record! The Co-Captain of Majesticks Golf Club played a truly strong 3-under-par 68 on Saturday at Sentosa Golf Club in the third round of Aramco LIV Golf Singapore. This performance propels him to the top, sharing the lead with Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann. Both stand at an impressive 10-under-par heading into Sunday's final round. Close behind, in a tie for third place, lurk Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau and Wild Card player Richard T. Lee, both at 9-under-par. Jon Rahm, Captain of Legion XIII and last week's winner in Hong Kong, is in fifth place, sitting at 7-under-par. At 52 years old, Westwood could become the oldest winner in league history on Sunday if he secures the victory. He himself is surprised by how competitive he's been this week, having only recently returned from a tendon injury in his left wrist that sidelined him for the first two tournaments of the season. When asked how a win on Sunday would feel, Westwood responded dryly: "I turn 53 on April 24th, so that would probably be the best win of my career." As a founding member of the LIV Golf Tour, Westwood's best result to date is a tied for third place finish in Nashville in 2024. But he feels right at home in Asia, having claimed 15 of his 44 career victories here – even though he's still waiting for his first triumph in Singapore. "I have a pretty good plan for the golf course," Westwood stated. "I try to hit the ball to specific positions and then leave myself good spots on the green. I think the problem here is if you get too aggressive, you can get into really tricky, uncomfortable situations. So, just keep doing what I've been doing for the first three days." Incidentally, Joaquin Niemann is the defending champion in Singapore. After a rather disappointing start to the season, he has truly rediscovered his form this week, carding a 5-under-par 66 on Saturday under difficult conditions. A win on Sunday would be his eighth on the LIV Golf Tour, further extending his own record for the most individual victories. "I feel like this is one of those courses where you have to hit the ball pretty well and not miss too often, and there aren't many birdie opportunities out there," Niemann said. "I feel like I can use my patience a bit better, stay calm, make my golf shots, and I think that
