Tyrrell Hatton claimed victory in Valderrama, securing not only one of the season's most impressive wins but also demonstrating that fatherhood can give you wings. Straight after his paternity leave, he was back in action, crowning himself the champion of the LIV Golf Andalucía 2026. And as if that weren't enough, his team Legion XIII delivered a true show of force, finishing 1-2 on the leaderboard and defending the team title – what a statement!
Hatton, who had to sit out LIV Golf Korea to be present for the birth of his first child, showed nerves of steel in Valderrama. He led the field over four days, and when things got serious on Sunday, he turned it up a notch. Birdies on the 16th and 17th were the decisive shots that sealed the victory, allowing him to walk off the 18th green as a deserving winner. A performance that speaks of skill and character.
DJ Delivers a Spectacular Round
Dustin Johnson had a start to forget in Valderrama, opening with a 5-over-par 76 that put him far back. But what followed on Saturday was one of the most exceptional rounds of the year. The captain of 4Aces GC made a hole-in-one on the 3rd hole from 186 yards (170 meters) – the 18th ace in LIV Golf history and already the sixth this year 2026! Johnson climbed from the bottom of the field to a tie for fourth place, proving once again that, in top form, he is one of the most dangerous golfers out there.
The Unsung Heroes of the Week
But beyond the big names, there were also really strong performances. Abraham Ancer of Torque GC delivered four consistent rounds and secured a well-deserved 3rd place at 8-under par. His rounds of 72-69-67-68 tell the story of a player who consistently improved throughout the week and masterfully handled the pressure on Sunday. Byeong Hun An, as captain of the Korean Golf Club, also showed an important response: With a final 69, he finished T11 at 2-under par. And Anirban Lahiri, who has struggled hard this season, finished the week with four solid rounds and a T10 at 3-under par – exactly the reliable performance that Crushers GC can use on their way to the next team title.
