Stephan Jaeger steps on the gas in Yokohama! The German impressively played his way into the spotlight at the Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama with an incredible round of 65 on Friday. With seven under par and a total score of 134 strokes, he closes in on the top of the leaderboard and is now only six strokes behind the leaders.
After a solid 69 on Thursday, Jaeger shifted into a higher gear on the second day of the tournament and improved by a solid four strokes. This phenomenal 18-hole round shows that he's currently playing exceptionally well and definitely wants to be in contention.
Setting Sights on the Lead
At the top of this high-profile $8 million PGA Tour event, played over an impressive 7,322 yards (6,695 meters) at Par 71 at the Yokohama Country Club, Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell have taken a firm hold. Bridgeman, who already posted a superb 63 yesterday, stands at an impressive 131 strokes after a round of 68. Mitchell is also tied at 13 under par.
The low scores indicate that conditions at the Yokohama Country Club are optimal and the greens are receptive. Jaeger also benefits from the fact that no cut will be made in this 72-player field – so he's definitely in for the weekend and can go all out.
Weekend Charge
While Jaeger's Friday burst of speed propels him into realistic striking distance, he'll need another spectacular round on Saturday to truly contend for the title. The gap to the co-leaders is still present, but with his Friday performance, he has shown that he has what it takes. We are excited to see how our German tackles the challenge and if he climbs even higher on Moving Day.
