The Swiss Alps are witnessing a top-class Austrian golf double-act: Maximilian Steinlechner and Bernd Wiesberger are showing at the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour what they're capable of and how to shake up a golf tournament. Especially on "Moving Day," both truly stepped up their game and created plenty of drama on the green.
Steinlechner, who was already off to a great start after the second round with 134 strokes (-6), delivered a sensational round on Saturday. With a flawless performance, he played his way to 13 under par for the tournament and was even a co-leader at one point. This run is incredibly strong and shows that he can compete at the very top in this high-caliber field.
Steinlechner: Bogey-Free Zone in the High Mountains
His performance on Moving Day was simply sensational: bogey-free and with numerous birdies – including a truly strong one on hole 14, which propelled him to six under par for the day. Following his rounds of 66 and 68 (after the first two days), Steinlechner is in dazzling form, right in the heart of the Swiss mountains. He is now just two shots behind the lead.
Wiesberger in Attack Mode
Bernd Wiesberger also activated his turbo. After his first two rounds of 69 and 68 strokes (a total of 137, or three under par), he still had some ground to make up. But the Austrian wouldn't be the seasoned veteran we know if he didn't have a move: an incredible round of 63 (-7) on Moving Day saw him climb a staggering 50 places up the leaderboard! Now that's a statement.
