Miyu Yamashita has her title defense at the Maybank Championship firmly in sight – and the competition better brace themselves! The world No. 4 holds the lead after 54 holes and is confidently heading for her next triumph in Kuala Lumpur. With a truly strong 5-under 67 on Saturday, she secured a score of 18-under 198 on the challenging course of the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
The Chasers Close In
But whoever thinks Yamashita will just stroll to victory now has underestimated the competition. China's Yan Liu is on a roll and posted the best round of the day with an incredible 9-under 63 – an absolute sensational round with an eagle and nine birdies. This moved her into a tie for second place at 16-under 200, right alongside France's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who also played a solid 67. Yamashita's lead is therefore still two strokes ahead of the final day.
Final Round: Battle for the Crown
Australia's Robyn Choi also showed with a 66 that she wants to have a say, and is at 14-under. This means Sunday will be truly intense. Yamashita, who already won this title in a playoff last year, starts from the strongest position. The tension is palpable: Will she defend her title or will one of the aggressive pursuers snatch the trophy? The final promises pure golf drama.
