The golf world watched eagerly as Ross Steelman snatched the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season title at the last moment in Virginia, proving once and for all: This guy is ready for the PGA Tour. With a tied 12th place finish at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, he overtook Scotland's Sandy Scott, who had led the standings until the very end and then slipped to 43rd – pure drama on the green.
With this, Steelman, who turned professional in 2023, has not only secured one of the 20 coveted PGA Tour Cards for 2027. Winning the points list also earns him starts at the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and the legendary PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass – a massive bonus! His 2026 season, by the way, was phenomenal: With two victories at The Blue Championship in Colorado and the Albertsons Boise Open in Idaho, he demonstrated his immense strength and his first professional successes.
The Fight on the Green
While Steelman popped the corks, Austin Hitt claimed victory at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship himself. With an outstanding final round of 5-under 66, he catapulted himself from 22nd to sixth in the overall standings, also securing one of the highly sought-after PGA Tour Cards for the upcoming season.
The Springboard for 2027
With this momentum, Steelman, currently ranked 74th in the golf world, is perfectly equipped for his first full PGA Tour season in 2027. He has already proven that he can perform under pressure and is no one-hit-wonder. The golf community can eagerly anticipate what this young golfer will conjure up on the course in the future.
