J.J. Spaun, not nominated for the Presidents Cup, is currently transforming his disappointment over the U.S. team selection into pure adrenaline on the greens of the BMW PGA Championship. Although he finished 10th in the U.S. rankings for team selection, he was overlooked as the “odd man out” by Captain Brandt Snedeker – instead, Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Jacob Bridgeman, and Jackson Koivun received the captain’s picks. Spaun himself is convinced he did everything to be included.
However, there was a catch: Spaun's season was a rollercoaster of emotions. He triumphed at the 2025 U.S. Open, secured two points from three matches in his Ryder Cup debut last year, and claimed a victory in San Antonio this season. But his withdrawal from the Tour Championship might have been a factor influencing the decision.

Now Spaun is competing at the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth, turning the perceived setback into pure fuel. After a solid opening round of 70 strokes, he delivered a sensational round of 66 in the second round. This puts him at eight under par and just two shots off the lead heading into the weekend. He is visibly enjoying the event and using the stage to let his actions speak.
