Ryder Cup: Rahm Gets the Green Light! Deal with DP World Tour.

BOOM! Jon Rahm has landed a massive deal with the DP World Tour! This means his membership is secured, and his spot for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, Ireland, remains valid. Phew, fellow golfers can breathe a sigh of relief!

The Spaniard isn't alone in this; back in February 2026, eight other LIV players had already finalized similar contracts. Rahm must now settle his outstanding dues – all the hefty fines incurred for competing in LIV events that clashed with DP World Tour tournaments.

The two-time Major champion had already incurred fines from three scheduling conflicts this season. Since his move to the Saudi league in 2023, a staggering sum of £2 million (equivalent to $2.7 million) in penalties has accumulated – a truly substantial amount!

In return for these 'conditional releases' for the 2026 LIV season, Rahm has agreed to also play in certain DP World Tour events for the remainder of the 2026 season. A DP World Tour spokesperson confirmed the arrangement: "The DP World Tour and Jon Rahm have agreed upon conditional releases for him to play in conflicting LIV Golf tournaments for the rest of the 2026 LIV season. This includes the payment of all outstanding penalties accumulated from 2024 to date, as well as participation in agreed-upon DP World Tour tournaments (excluding Majors) for the remainder of the 2026 season."

The 31-year-old Spaniard, who made his Ryder Cup debut in 2018, was a Captain's Pick for the 2025 tournament at Bethpage Black and contributed significantly to the European team's victory. A true team player, even when the money is tempting!

As recently as March 2026, Rahm had accused the DP World Tour of 'extorting players' when explaining why he had refused to sign such a deal to settle his fines. Well, times certainly change faster than a fairway bunker in gale-force winds.

And speaking of changes: Last week in 2026, the bombshell dropped: Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is withdrawing its multi-billion dollar backing for LIV Golf at the end of the season. This plunges the Tour's future completely into uncertainty – and perhaps explains Rahm's sudden willingness to negotiate. A lot was really happening behind the scenes there!
