Okay folks, hold onto your hats! Rory McIlroy has delivered once again, claiming victory at the 2026 Masters. Not just any win, but his sixth Major title overall! The Northern Irishman successfully defended his title from the previous year, showing Scottie Scheffler who's boss on the hallowed grounds of Augusta National.
What a phenomenal round! Rory triumphed by a single stroke, completing the double at Augusta National. With this, he also draws level with golf legend Nick Faldo – both are now the only Europeans with six Major victories. And this despite McIlroy having a full 15 years between his first Major (the 2011 US Open) and this latest success, compared to Faldo (six Majors in 10 years) or Arnold Palmer (seven Majors in six years), who accumulated their successes more quickly.
The Grand Slam is History
But wait a minute, there was something else! With his 2025 Masters victory, McIlroy had already completed the career Grand Slam. This places him in an extremely exclusive club, which only Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Gene Sarazen belong to – the guys who have won all four modern Majors (Masters, PGA Championship, US Open, The Open). What an incredible achievement!
Following in the Footsteps of Legends
So, while Rory continues to diligently collect titles and solidify his place among the all-time greats, Jack Nicklaus remains at the top of the leaderboard with an incredible 18 Major victories. Tiger Woods still has 15 Majors to his name. But Rory's current run shows that there's still plenty more to come in the years ahead. It's going to be an exciting time for all golfers out there!
