PGA Memorial: Poston Takes Lead After Round 3!

JT Poston grabbed an impressive four-shot lead over his fellow American Ryan Gerard after the third round of the storm-delayed PGA Memorial Tournament concluded on Sunday morning.

Poston fired a stellar round of three-under-par (69), featuring five birdies and two bogeys. This puts him atop the leaderboard after 54 holes at 12-under-par with a total of 204 strokes. Gerard sits in second place with 208 strokes after a round of 72 at this Jack Nicklaus-hosted event in Muirfield Village, Dublin, Ohio. The final round was scheduled to start in threesomes from the first and tenth tees to finish before sunset.

Poston, who just turned 33 – he celebrated his birthday on Monday – is chasing his fourth PGA Tour title, his first since the 2024 Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas. Gerard, on the other hand, claimed his sole PGA Tour title in July 2025 at the Barracuda Championship.

On Saturday, Poston and Gerard had shared the lead at nine-under-par when a thunderstorm halted play. Both faced long par putts on the sixth green, while most of the field was still on the course. After play resumed, Poston saved his par from just under six feet, holed a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-5 seventh, and another from seven feet on the par-3 eighth, before carding a bogey on the ninth hole.

Poston strung together three consecutive birdies starting from the 13th hole, including a 13-footer on the par-5 15th. However, on the par-3 16th, he found himself in the bunker and made a bogey. Gerard missed his 14-foot par putt on the sixth hole and also made a bogey, but countered with nine-foot birdie putts on the seventh and tenth holes. He stumbled again on the 16th with a bogey after taking three shots to reach the green. On the 17th tee, he found himself in the deep right rough, which led to another bogey.

The Chasing Pack: Who Else Is In Contention

In the shadows of the leaders: Sam Burns was third with 209 strokes, while fellow American Wyndham Clark and England's Tommy Fleetwood shared fourth place with 210 strokes. The defending US Open Champion JJ Spaun, preparing to defend his title in two weeks at Shinnecock, finished a round of 68 and was at 212 strokes.

Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, aiming for a historic three-peat at a PGA Tour event – a feat last achieved by Steve Stricker at the John Deere Classic from 2009 to 2011 – finished his round of 68 with 213 strokes. Second-ranked Rory McIlroy, the reigning Masters Champion, concluded his round with a 71, landing at 216 strokes.
