Rory Franssen delivered at the Infortar Estonian Challenge, securing his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title – a stunning performance in his debut season on the Road to Mallorca circuit. And what a finish it was: The Scotsman carded a bogey-free round of 67, finishing at an incredible 19-under-par to secure a three-shot victory.
He started the final round one shot behind the leader but truly ignited on the back nine. Birdies on holes 9, 11, 12, and 16 showed he meant business before definitively sealing the tournament with a closing birdie on the 18th. Now that's what you call nerves of steel!
On the Cusp of the DP World Tour
This victory is not just a title, but a springboard for the 27-year-old Scotsman from Inverness, who now bases himself in St. Andrews. It propels him significantly up the Road to Mallorca Ranking, bringing him much closer to his dream of a DP World Tour Card. Franssen is only playing this season because he topped the 2025 Tartan Pro Tour Order of Merit. Now, things are really clicking for him on the European development tour.
Drama on the Green
The course in Estonia was certainly the scene for gripping drama. Andrew Wilson snatched second place, while David Horsey and Michael Hirmer shared third position. Franssen's first major title at this level demonstrates that the Scotsman has what it takes to rock the biggest stages. One can only wonder what else this man will pull out of his bag!
