PGA Championship Final: Rahm Chases Smalley & Career Grand Slam!

Folks, what a Saturday it was on the Aronimink Course at the 2026 PGA Championship! Jon Rahm, Captain of Legion XIII, scanned the digital leaderboard and saw: The top was so tight he could barely make out all the names breathing down his neck. The action on the green was truly intense!

Rahm, naturally, knew his own name was prominent on it. And how! Following a brilliant round of 67, he moved up and down the leaderboard by the minute. First a tie for third, then even briefly co-leader, while the final groups were still out on the course, cranking up the drama to the max.

By the end of the day, our man found himself in a five-way tie for second place, four-under-par and just two strokes behind Alex Smalley. Smalley, who hasn't secured a professional win since his pro debut in 2019, now wears a big target on his back and must withstand the pressure of a Major's final day.

Rahm Chasing the Grand Slam

But seriously, who would write off the boss? Jon Rahm already has two Majors under his belt. He is the most experienced veteran in the chasing pack. A win on Sunday? That wouldn't just be his third Major title, but also the third leg of the Career Grand Slam, following his U.S. Open triumph in 2021 and his Masters victory in 2023. Moreover, he would be the first Spaniard to win the PGA Championship.

Final Day Showdown

The fact that this is only the fifth instance in Major history where a sole leader after 54 holes has five pursuers tied for second place further underscores the excitement. Rahm himself, despite missing a four-foot par putt on the last hole, sounded typically composed after his stellar round: “Fantastic round of golf. I'm excited to be in a good position for tomorrow.” Us too, Jon, us too! It’s going to be an epic Sunday!
