Patrick Reed sends a clear signal to the PGA Tour: his path back is solely through performance, not negotiations. The polarizing golfer deliberately did not extend his LIV Golf contract for 2026, with a clear goal in mind: to reclaim his spot on the PGA Tour rather than hope for an exemption. Since then, his clubs have been delivering a performance on the DP World Tour that speaks volumes.
Reed's Redemption Tour on the Course
The 36-year-old Reed has already won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Masters this season. Additionally, he secured a strong second place at the Amgen Irish Open and was in a playoff at the Bahrain Championship. With three more top-10 finishes, he's delivering, and doing so exceptionally well. It's no wonder he currently leads the Race to Dubai standings, leaving Rory McIlroy behind.
Ryder Cup and a Clear Statement
Reed is currently ranked 29th in the world, keeping the door open for several PGA Tour Signature Events. And even Jim Furyk, captain of the US Ryder Cup team, sees it positively if Reed earns a spot on the 2027 Ryder Cup team – despite their notorious past. Reed maintains his stance: LIV players should pave their way back through performance, not deals. Thumbs up for this sporting legitimacy.
