Patrick Reed: Rahm Deserves Immediate PGA Tour Comeback!

Patrick Reed is pushing for an immediate Rahm return to the PGA Tour, even if it means completely bypassing a suspension. That's quite a statement from Captain America that has stirred up the golf world this week. While Rahm himself is still contemplating a potential one-year forced break, Reed throws a completely different argument into the ring: Whoever has earned the right to play should play. A declaration that recently made the rounds at the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Rahm had stated on Tuesday that he would likely have to tee off on the DP World Tour in 2027 if the PGA Tour doesn't find a special arrangement. But Reed, who himself only returned from LIV Golf in August 2025 and secured his PGA Tour card for next season via the DP World Tour (#2 in the rankings!) after his suspension, knows exactly how the game works. He emphasizes: Rahm's resume and qualifications are incredibly strong; they cannot simply be ignored.

Koepka's Path as a Blueprint?

The Tour is facing a real dilemma. Brooks Koepka, another LIV returnee, was already able to rejoin the big stage via a “Returning Member Program.” Of course, that came with a price tag: lost bonus payments for 2026, no Player Equity Program Grants until 2030, and a hefty $5 million donation to charity. Rahm himself has hinted that he would likely accept such conditions – but he doubts whether the Tour would make him the same offer.

A Matter of Principle

For Reed, the matter is clear: it's about top golfers like Rahm, with whom he has always enjoyed playing, being where the action is. The decision now rests with the PGA Tour leadership: Should they make an example or reopen the path for an exception, similar to Koepka? It boils down to a tough decision that could help shape the future of the Tour.
