Oliver Wilson calls it quits! After over 20 years on the DP World Tour, the Brit celebrated his emotional farewell from professional golf at the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. On the historic coast of St Andrews, the 46-year-old hung up his clubs, declaring the tournament the perfect setting for his last event – partly because he once achieved one of his greatest triumphs there. Incidentally, it was also his only appearance in 2026.
Over & Out! This week was my last event on the @dpworldtour after 20+ years. It was my first & last start of the year, and I loved every bit of preparing to get back out there. Got my game in good shape and had it going nicely yesterday but came up a little short. There’s
An Era Comes to an End
For Wilson, who rarely competed in 2026 after losing his Tour card in 2025, the farewell in St Andrews was very special. He savored every moment of preparation and emphasized how much it meant to him to walk the fairways in competition mode one last time. A Sponsor's Invitation made this poignant finale possible.
His playing career may be over, but Wilson remains involved in golf: He has already worked as a media analyst for BBC Sport and TNT Sports and has now also discovered a passion for coaching. A seamless transition into the next phase of his golf life.
The Last Hurrah on the Green
In the end, rounds of 72, 72, and 70, for a total of 2-under 214, were not enough for Wilson to make the cut after three rounds. But that was merely a side note this weekend. While Adrian Meronk secured the victory and his fifth DP World Tour title, attention was focused on a true Tour veteran bidding farewell to the big stage.
An emotional moment for a golfer who has left his mark for over two decades. We are excited to see what impact he will continue to have on golf off the fairways in the future.
