The golf world holds its breath: South Korean fashion giant F&F is currently evaluating whether to acquire TaylorMade in a multi-billion-dollar deal – a move that could completely reshape the playing field of equipment giants. A hefty 2.85 billion US dollars is on the table, a price that's significant even for major players. F&F recently, on October 28th, began its due diligence to thoroughly examine this mega-deal.
It's a complex strategic move in the financial green: TaylorMade is currently owned by Centroid Investment Partners. They had actually selected Entrada Partners as the preferred bidder, but F&F has pre-emptive rights here and is now assessing whether they will snatch the deal from the Americans. A closing in November 2026 would be possible, but nothing is finalized yet.
High Stakes: Money Rolls
The sum of 2.85 billion US dollars translates to a staggering ₩3.8 trillion Won. And F&F? They are reportedly willing to put even more than ₩4 trillion on the table – a sum that exceeds original expectations and demonstrates their seriousness. This move by F&F is no coincidence; they are seeking a new growth engine, as their Discovery business and MLB operations in China are weakening. A golf powerhouse like TaylorMade naturally becomes a very strong contender.
What the Deal Would Mean for TaylorMade
Should F&F indeed win the bid, it would encompass not only TaylorMade's entire golf equipment and apparel business. According to insider information, "Sun Day Red" would also be part of the package, the sensational golf apparel brand launched by Tiger Woods in partnership with TaylorMade in 2024. This would be a tremendous asset that further underscores the deal's significance and could give TaylorMade enormous appeal.
Now it remains to be seen whether F&F, after its review, will truly make the decisive putt and acquire this golf icon. The impact on the market and innovations could be gigantic, and we will, of course, stay on the ball regarding this golf earthquake.
