Shortly before the first tee shot at the Constellation Furyk & Friends, the PGA Tour Champions field resembles a Kinder Surprise egg – things are constantly happening! With three late withdrawals, prominent alternates, and Michael Block securing his spot after a strong performance last week, the race for starting places is hotter than ever. The 54-hole event on the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort promises plenty of drama even before the first drive.
Jay Haas, Cameron Percy, and Paul Stankowski are out, giving Robert Karlsson, Heath Slocum, and Rod Pampling the chance to showcase their skills on the green. Particularly exciting: Michael Block secured automatic qualification thanks to his top-10 finish last week, specifically a third-place finish (his third top-five finish in his last four starts!). This frees up a sponsor invite, which Ken Duke now holds.
Final Spots Up for Grabs
The field consists of 78 golfers, but three spots are still open. These will be awarded today, Tuesday, in a tough qualifier. Around 60 golfers are competing for these coveted remaining spots and the chance to tee it up at the tournament hosted by Jim Furyk. This is where it will be decided who gets to compete for the substantial prize money in the coming days.
All New on the Atlantic Coast
This year, the event moves from Timuquana Country Club, where it has been held since 2021, to Hammock Beach in Palm Coast, about an hour south of Jacksonville. The Constellation Furyk & Friends offers a substantial prize purse of 2.2 million US dollars, with the winner taking home an incredible 330,000 US dollars. Defending champion Tommy Gainey is back in the field, and current Charles Schwab Cup points leader Stewart Cink is, of course, also looking to contend.
