Marc Warren has done it again! The 45-year-old Scot regains full playing rights for the DP World Tour 2027 after a thrilling final at the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final in Mallorca. What a comeback thriller, which reached its climax on the green on Sunday.
It was hanging by a thread: After the halfway point, Warren was only in a projected 22nd place, far from the top 15 he needed. But the veteran truly turned it on over the final eight holes, grabbing five birdies – including a clutch bunker shot on the short 14th and a crucial putt on the 18th. A sensational round of 69 shots catapulted him from 20th to 13th in the Road to Mallorca rankings.
Three-Year Hiatus Ends in Triumph
For three years, Warren's DP World Tour career was dormant. At the end of 2023, he lost his Tour card, despite boasting over 500 starts and four victories on Europe's top circuit in his career. His best ranking was once 48th. Now, the forced break is over, and the emotions were palpable as he fought his way back to this opportunity.
The New Faces are Here
Warren isn't returning alone: A total of 14 other golfers are celebrating their promotion. Leading the charge were Julien Sale, who won the Grand Final by four strokes, and Hamish Brown, who secured the Road to Mallorca title. The new Tour stars will kick off their 2027 campaign after the current DP World Tour Final in Dubai. The golf circuit can look forward to fresh blood and seasoned veterans returning to the fray.
