LIV Golf Teams: $100M Valuation? Investor Sees 'Boom Round'!

An LIV Golf team could soon be worth $100 million – and that's despite the breakaway tour having to file for bankruptcy just under a month ago. BC Partners Credit has committed a capital injection of up to $300 million to prepare LIV for a relaunch in 2027.

The tour, which squandered billions to poach top players from the established PGA Tour and massively divide the golf establishment, had filed for bankruptcy protection with a court in New Jersey on September 8, 2026. The reason: Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) pulled the plug. Since its inception in 2022, the PIF is said to have pumped approximately $5 billion into LIV.

This left LIV's future hanging in the balance. But now, an agreement with BC – subject to the bankruptcy court's approval – could breathe new life into the project next year. Ted Goldthorpe, the driving force behind the investment, spoke at Sportico’s Invest London conference on Tuesday and was optimistic: "I think you could see a valuation of over $100 million per team in a very short period of time. That's a real number."

However, documents show that LIV has debts between $500 million and $1 billion to at least 1,000 creditors. These include top stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm. What happens next with these top players is still completely up in the air.

Last month, BC signed an agreement with LIV, stipulating that half of the players owed money must be re-signed as part of the financing plan. But beware: no one is forced to re-join. Sergio Garcia recently filed court documents to have his contract terminated.

Goldthorpe stated: "Our goal is to put LIV Golf on solid financial footing after the restructuring and start the 2027 season with new momentum." The first of several bankruptcy hearings is scheduled for this week.

Scott O'Neil, CEO of LIV Golf, announced: "We are achieving our key milestones, and while there is still work ahead, today marks significant progress towards a league that is player-owned, team-oriented, truly global, complements the broader game, and creates new opportunities for players, fans, partners, and the next generation of golfers."
