The Post-LIV Shake-up: Where are the golf stars headed?
Jon Rahm rejects the new LIV conditions – and that's just the beginning of an avalanche shaking the Saudi league. His lawyer made it clear in court on October 7: The terms of "LIV 2.0" are "unacceptable." Rahm and LIV are now negotiating a separation by October 15 at the latest, further fueling speculation about the future of other top names.
The Returnees: Seeking New Horizons
Some have already made the jump. Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf at the end of 2025, his contract dissolved by mutual agreement. Since January 2026, after paying penalties and accepting return conditions, he has been back on the PGA Tour. Patrick Reed, in turn, rejected a new LIV contract after his deal expired at the end of 2025. He was very strong on the DP World Tour in 2026, securing two victories – his sights are already set on a PGA Tour return in 2027. Sergio Garcia also officially received his release from LIV on October 6. While a return to the PGA Tour would mean a suspension until the end of August 2027, the DP World Tour and the 2027 Ryder Cup are at the top of his list.
The Undecided: Gambling with Their Careers
Not everyone has rolled the dice yet. Adrian Meronk, for instance, reportedly does not want to extend his LIV contract, but official confirmation is still pending. His victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship secured him DP World Tour status until 2028, significantly improving his options. Tyrrell Hatton, Cameron Smith, and Joaquin Niemann are also being discussed as potential departures, as is Bryson DeChambeau. Arguably the biggest remaining star at LIV is reportedly seeking clarity on terminating his contract to negotiate with other tour organizers. The carousel, therefore, continues to spin.
