What a Sunday, folks! Mikael Lindberg secured his first DP World Tour title at the Turkish Airlines Open on May 3, 2026. A two-shot lead, unbelievable! With that, he not only claimed the trophy but also a ticket for his Major debut – a dream come true at the National Golf Club in Belek, Turkey.
Drama on the Green
Things really heated up on the green! For a while, things looked really good for Gregorio De Leo at seven-under after 36 holes, but then he faded. And then there was an unfortunate penalty situation for one of his competitors, which ultimately played into Lindberg's hands. Yuvraj Sandhu from India carded a solid 1-under 71 and still made it into the Top Ten, while Shubhankar Sharma made the cut. But in the end, everything just clicked for Mikael!
Door to the Majors Opened
With this triumph, Lindberg has not only significantly strengthened his position on the Tour but also widely opened the door to golf's biggest stages. His first Major appearance is thus secured, likely at The Open Championship – and according to Tour statements, even at the US PGA Championship! That's what every golfer dreams of. A milestone for Mikael Lindberg and a signal to everyone pushing hard on the DP World Tour: Your time will come!
