Koepka Returns: Watson Critical, Reed Waits

The rumor mill has been churning, but now it's official, folks: Brooks Koepka is back on the PGA Tour! And no, he's no longer "one decision away," as some headlines still suggested. The man has long since returned, and he's done so via the brand-new PGA Tour Returning Member Program. Patrick Reed is also trying to make his return for the 2027 season, but Koepka has already made the move.

Koepka himself announced his switch via X (formerly Twitter). For him, the proximity to family and the thrill of playing where he dreamed as a child were paramount. He firmly believes in the Tour's new direction, the fresh leadership, new investors, and the Player Equity Program. Apparently, a lot is going very well there.

Masters Showdown & Reed's Path

Let's briefly recall the 2026 Masters: Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed both finished in a tie for 12th place before leaving LIV Golf. Tyrell Hatton, who was still with LIV at the time, secured a very strong third-place finish at 10-under par, just two strokes behind champion Rory McIlroy. Reed also bid farewell to LIV on X, emphasizing his traditional roots and his PGA Tour past. Now he's competing on the DP World Tour while pushing for reinstatement to the PGA Tour for 2027.

Old Love Never Dies?

The PGA Tour is certainly making it easier for returning players with the new program. Koepka himself is positive about the switch after his first day back on Tour. But not everyone is a fan: Golf legend Tom Watson expressed strong disapproval of Koepka's return. And while Sergio Garcia speculated about the future of LIV, Koepka's return appears to be a done deal without further "conditions." So the drama in professional golf continues, and we're right in the middle of it!
