PGA TOUR CARD? Daniel Hillier in contention, Ryan Fox delivers in Korea
The Genesis Championship in South Korea was a true statement tournament: While Ryan Fox secured a solid fourth-place finish despite a late stumble, Daniel Hillier's tied eleventh position has flung open the door to the 2026–27 PGA Tour. A weekend full of drama and unexpected twists.
Reigning Open Champion Ryan Fox almost had a podium finish secured. A 1-over 70 in the final round – his highest score of the week – and a costly bogey on the 17th ultimately dashed his hopes of a top-three spot. After briefly holding second place, he ultimately had to settle for a tied fourth-place finish. Nevertheless, it was a truly strong performance that keeps him in sixth place in the DP World Tour season standings.
Hillier's Golden Opportunity
But the true headliner for the future is Daniel Hillier. With an impressive round of 66, featuring six birdies and just one bogey, he propelled himself up the leaderboard. Although late finishers dropped him to a tied eleventh place, something far more significant matters: He now sits fourth among players without an existing PGA Tour Card. This places him squarely within the top 10 who can secure the coveted card for next season. Things are heating up!
Finale with Future Potential
Victory went to Japan's Yuto Katsuragawa, who secured his second DP World Tour title – remarkably, he only carded a single bogey all weekend, which even came on the final hole. Hats off! Kazuma Kobori, the third New Zealander in the field, also had reason to celebrate: His tied 34th place and 89th ranking at the season's end secure him a DP World Tour card for 2027. Now, all eyes are on Hillier for the upcoming playoffs, which begin on November 5th with the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship and culminate in the glamorous DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
