Golf fans, take note! John Daly has once again proven that on the green (or rather, next to the green) there's always a surprise in store. At the Cologuard Classic on Sunday, March 24, 2026, "Long John" took an unintentional tumble that even made seasoned golfers chuckle. But don't worry: Daly remained unharmed and poked fun at the crash in true DELOFTED style.
What happened? After a wayward shot, Daly found himself in a tricky position in the rough, near a steep slope at La Paloma Country Club in Tucson, Arizona. During his recovery shot, he lost his footing, slipped, and took a quick slide down into the desert. His caddie Joel Cooley and a volunteer were immediately on hand to help the cult golfer out of trouble.
Daly's Desert Performance
Instead of looking sheepish, Daly played down the scene with his typical humor. He shared the video of his tumble on social media and commented dryly: "On today's episode of Jacka--" – classic John, that's our John. He later added: "Bellyfloppin' in the desert. [A] true buddy sliding in to save [me]." Honestly, who else would shrug off a fall so casually?
The Sporting Outcome
Despite the wild action, Daly finished the hole with a double bogey and carded a really strong round of 68. With rounds of 70-69-68, he finished in a tie for 29th place. Steven Alker took the victory that day, prevailing in a playoff against Padraig Harrington and triumphing nine strokes ahead of Daly. John Daly will be back in action soon: He'll compete from March 27-29 at the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach, California, before teeing off at the Masters 2026 in Augusta. We're excited to see what stories he brings us from there!
