India's golf talents are facing a significant upgrade, as the DP World PGTI is now serious about its global offensive and is launching a tough financing program. No more endless struggles for cash for international Qualifying Schools – from now on, there will be support designed to pave the way to the major tours. A hurdle that has already shattered many dreams is now being torn down.
The program, an absolute game-changer announcement, targets the top 30 of the PGTI Order of Merit. It's voluntary, of course, but those who want to compete internationally will now get the necessary backing. Initially, the PGTI will contribute around ₹3 lakh per player for Q-School costs. This is not a small amount, as three weeks abroad without tournament earnings, plus travel and accommodation, can really eat into a budget.
Cash Bonus for a Tour Card
But the real kicker comes if things go well: Those who succeed and secure a Tour Card will receive an additional ₹10 lakh. A reward that not only fills the coffers but also highlights the moral support for this colossal task. PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl is very clear in his statement: The program aims to strengthen the transition from Indian home turf to the Asian and DP World Tours, boost world ranking positions, and significantly increase India's chances of Olympic participation.
The Future of Indian Golf
This investment is not a coincidence. Indian golf is increasingly moving into the international spotlight through events like the DP World India Championship, jointly organized by the PGTI and DP World Tour. DP World has even extended its title sponsorship partnership until 2035 – a clear signal for long-term commitment. Anirban Lahiri, a heavyweight in Indian golf, also celebrates the ₹10 lakh for the Tour Card as a "fantastic gesture" that makes international careers possible. And talents like Saptak Talwar, who leads the PGTI Order of Merit 2026 and secured a DP World Tour Card for 2027 with eight top-10 finishes in 15 starts, including a victory at the Indorama Ventures Open, show what potential lies dormant.
