Vijay Singh claimed victory at the SAS Championship, ending a drought on the PGA Tour Champions that felt like an eternity. With a final round of 3-under 69 and a total score of 9-under 207, the 63-year-old veteran secured a two-shot lead over the giant Ernie Els on Sunday, October 18. This was his first triumph on this tour since the Ally Challenge in August 2023 and his sixth senior title overall.
Age No Match for His Game
Singh showed how it's done on the green: Four birdies on six holes around the turn propelled him into the lead. He then held his lead firmly, sinking six consecutive pars and giving Ernie Els, who also shot a 69 and finished at 7-under, no chance. Alex Cejka and Tag Ridings, who shared third place at 6-under, couldn't keep up either.
What a story: At 63, Singh is now the second-oldest winner on this circuit. Only Bernhard Langer ranks above him, having triumphed at an incredible 67 years old. And Singh hadn't even achieved a top-10 finish in 2026 before this week! The victory catapulted him from 57th to 33rd in the Charles Schwab Cup standings – things are suddenly looking very strong.
The Legacy Push
The World Golf Hall of Famer, three-time major champion, and 34-time PGA Tour winner once again proved his class. It was particularly impressive how he defended the lead he had shared after 36 holes in a tightly contested field. Tim O’Neal and Freddie Jacobson started the final round right alongside him at 6-under. But Singh? He delivered when it mattered most.
