Henrik Stenson is back on the course, folks! The former Open Champion and one of the most recognizable names in golf is making his senior debut this week. And not just anywhere, but at the 2026 Senior PGA Championship, the season's first Senior Major, held at the prestigious The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. A true fresh start for the Swede following his departure from LIV Golf.
The reason for the jump into the over-50 circuit is simple: Stenson celebrated his 50th birthday on April 5, 2026, officially qualifying him for the Champions Tour. It's been a while since we've really seen him on the course. Since "The Players Championship" – amidst the LIV whirlwind – he hasn't completed a competitive round. Things were really heating up back then!
Stenson's New Mission: Over-50 Dominance?
While the golf world is currently celebrating Rory McIlroy's Masters success and the PGA Tour delivers another highlight with the RBC Heritage Signature Event in Harbour Town, Stenson has refocused. His full concentration is now on the Senior Tour. A clever move to attack again and show that even beyond 50, there's still some really strong golf left.
Old Class, New Greens
Whether he can rediscover his 2016 Open form there and claim victory at The Concession Golf Club remains to be seen. One thing is clear: With his experience and fighting spirit, Stenson is always capable of a stellar round. We're looking forward to his comeback and are excited to see what the veteran delivers this week!
