What a statement! Haeran Ryu absolutely tore through the field at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea, securing a two-shot lead at the halfway point with a phenomenal round. A bogey-free 64 left the competition in awe, rocketing her to a commanding 13-under-par (131 strokes) after 36 holes played.
Ryu played a sensational round that won't soon be forgotten. Two eagles on the front nine immediately set the tone for her dominant play. She added four more birdies, including two in a closing surge, to seal her perfect 64. The player hit every green in regulation and missed only a single fairway. What's particularly impressive: She played the four par-5 holes a combined six-under-par, thereby building a substantial advantage.
Chasers Eyeing Their Opportunity
Trailing her is KLPGA player Minsun Kim, who also carded a 64 and shares second place with Lauren Coughlin (66 strokes). Both are 11-under-par and just two shots behind the leader. Julia Lopez Ramirez and Karis Davidson are also right in contention, sharing fourth place at 10-under-par. The stage is set for an exciting weekend.
Ryu on Track for a Hattrick?
For the world No. 3, this is her first LPGA event since late August, but her form is incredibly strong. Earlier this month, she already claimed the KLPGA’s Hite Jinro Championship and is now chasing her third LPGA victory this season. This performance keeps her a serious contender in the Player of the Year Race, even though Nelly Korda currently holds the lead. The weekend will reveal whether Ryu can maintain this momentum and ultimately hoist the trophy.
