Eugenio Chacarra Leads Hero Indian Open: Can He Hold On?

Spain's Eugenio Chacarra is once again demonstrating how to dominate a 'home' game – even if it's thousands of kilometers away in New Delhi. At the 2026 Hero Indian Open, he has secured the outright lead after two rounds, sitting at an impressive 8-under par (67-69). By doing so, he not only defends his title from last year at the infamous DLF Golf & Country Club, but also reinforces that this course simply suits his game.

In his second round, the 26-year-old carded a 3-under 69, highlighted by four birdies, three bogeys, and a big eagle on the par-5 18th hole. His driving game is particularly strong, and the positive vibes from the previous year are palpable. Chacarra himself says that his 2025 victory changed his life – and that joy for the game is his secret to success. "When I'm having fun playing golf, I prove that I am one of the best players in the world," says Chacarra, who now aims to follow in the footsteps of S.S.P. Chawrasia and win the title back-to-back.

The Chasers Are Not Sleeping

However, the Spaniard cannot afford to get too comfortable. Right behind him lurks Casey Jarvis, who climbed to 7-under par overall with a stunning round of 64 strokes – a true charge! MJ Daffue is also off to a strong start at 6-under, and our German young star Freddy Schott is holding strong at 5-under par in a tie for fourth place. The excitement is therefore reaching fever pitch!

The Battle for the Green Continues

The second round had to be interrupted yesterday evening, March 27, due to weather conditions, as it simply got too dark. But today, Saturday, March 28, play resumes at 7:15 AM local time (3:45 AM CEST), before the third round then begins no earlier than 10:00 AM local time (6:30 AM CEST) with a two-tee start. Golfers, get ready for a weekend full of drama and top-tier golf on the green!
