Eugenio Chacarra dominates the DP World India Championship, securing a two-shot lead and facing an ultimate golf marathon that will span the entire Sunday. The Spaniard leads comfortably at 14 under par after the third round, which was suspended on Saturday. He was already four under through his eleven holes played, with nine birdies already on his scorecard, before darkness halted the incredible action.
Now, things are getting serious at the Delhi Golf Club, as Joost Luiten and Angel Hidalgo lurk tied for second at 12 under par. Most of the field could not complete their third round when play was suspended at 5:44 p.m. local time (2:14 p.m. CEST).
Marathon Sunday Awaits
The chaos began on opening day with an almost five-hour weather delay, which disrupted the entire schedule. Only 26 of 77 players had completed their third round when play concluded on Saturday. The third round will resume on Sunday at 6:35 a.m. local time (3:05 a.m. CEST), immediately followed by the entire final round. This means a grueling task of over 25 holes for Chacarra and many of his competitors.
Chacarra in Top Form with Race to Dubai in Sight
Chacarra started Saturday with two consecutive rounds of 67 and was at 10 under par at the halfway mark. He is keen on another major victory in India, having already claimed the Hero Indian Open earlier in 2026. His current performance could also have a huge impact on the Race to Dubai: Reportedly, he is currently in second place and pushing hard to take the lead. Even Rory McIlroy had his problems during the weather-affected play and fell out of the leading group – however, the exact standings are still fluid until Sunday.
While Chacarra has the clearest advantage, the lead is far from secure. He first needs to complete his third round and then immediately manage the full final round, while his pursuers, with varying numbers of holes left, are hot on his heels. This will be a true test of nerve and physical endurance.
