Saved! The PGA Tour’s Austin Championship, which was on the brink financially after the embarrassing departure of Good Good, has secured a new presenting sponsor at the last minute: Compliance Solutions is set to take the helm for 2026 and save the tournament from cancellation.
What a mess it was when Good Good, originally slated as the title sponsor for the Austin Championship, pulled out in August. A Callaway commercial, which generated massive backlash on social media for depicting a woman being shoved to the ground, led not only to Good Good's withdrawal but also to a break with Callaway itself. Suddenly, a gap of roughly six million US dollars appeared in the tournament's coffers. The future of the event, scheduled to take place from November 12-15, 2026, at the Fazio Canyons Course in Austin, Texas, hung by a thread.
The Rescuer
This is where Compliance Solutions comes in. The Florida-based company, which already sponsors a $1.5 million Korn Ferry Tour event in Owasso, Oklahoma, has established connections to the PGA Tour. This existing partnership made a quick agreement possible to save the tournament from collapse. While Compliance Solutions won't completely fill the six-million-dollar hole, the PGA Tour is sticking to the original prize money of $6 million, with $1.08 million going to the winner. It's truly great that the players won't have to bear the cost in the end.
A Glimmer of Future?
Although the Austin Championship is thus saved for 2026, a big question mark hangs over 2027. The deal with Compliance Solutions is apparently designed only for the current year and doesn't guarantee a long-term commitment or the tournament's return to next year's calendar. Tournament Director Ian Helm has already secured top names like Will Zalatoris and Cole Sherwood for the field via sponsor invitations, adding prestige to the tournament. However, the real challenge remains: finding a permanent lead sponsor to secure Austin a lasting spot on the PGA Tour calendar. The show goes on, but the fight for the future has only just begun.
