Eugenio Chacarra blasts into the lead at the DP World India Championship, while Rory McIlroy struggles on the greens. The Spaniard, who has already triumphed at the Hero Indian Open 2026, is at an impressive 14-under atop the Delhi Golf Club after his still unfinished third round – a two-shot lead that feels truly solid.
Rory McIlroy, of all people, endured a true nightmare Saturday. After two strong opening days, the Northern Irishman stumbled in round three with four bogeys and a double bogey. Even a late eagle on the 14th couldn't turn things around: At two-over with three holes left to play, McIlroy found himself at four-under overall and in a tie for 40th place. This is definitely not what we're used to from the major star. Chacarra, who by the way is second in the Race to Dubai, still has seven holes to play before the decisive final day – and for McIlroy, it's now about giving his all to make the cut and still launch a comeback.
Hot on his heels are Dutchman Joost Luiten and Spain's Angel Hidalgo, who are just two shots behind Chacarra at 12-under and ready to attack. Another shot back are New Zealand's Daniel Hillier, Poland's Adrian Meronk, and Scotland's Scott Jamieson. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood? He showcased a phenomenal round on his marathon day and is at nine-under in a tie for eleventh place. The race for the title is definitely still wide open!
